Resident Evil 4 (remake) in Ukrainian: no official support, but a fan translation exists

The 2023 Resident Evil 4 remake has no official Ukrainian: no interface, no subtitles, no voice-over. The only route is a fan-made text translation by Kindrat Knysh for the PC version on Steam. It has not been updated in a long time, though, so it helps to know the caveats first.

What Steam says

So Ukrainian voices will not appear in any scenario; the translation adds text only.

The fan translation: what the catalog says

The game's entry in the kuli.com.ua catalog of Ukrainian localizations lists:

• author: Kindrat Knysh, with testing by AdrianZP;
• type: text, translated from English;
• readiness: 100%, last updated 20 April 2023;
• not translated: the "The Mercenaries" main menu entry, its description and the message about adding that mode, due to technical limitations;
• installation: run the installer, follow the prompts, then play.

The main caveat

The translation appeared a few weeks after the remake launched and has not been updated since April 2023. The game has probably received patches in the meantime, so we have not checked compatibility with the current version and recommend you do it yourself. In practice: install it, launch the game and see whether Ukrainian text shows up in the menus and dialogue. If it doesn't, remove the translation and play in English or another official language.

If you were searching for a Russian patch

Russian is official and complete here, with voice-over, subtitles and interface, so no patch is needed. If you were looking for one because you saw no choice, there is one: the Ukrainian fan translation, with the limits described above.
