Red Dead Redemption 2 in Ukrainian: no official support, but there is a fan translation by GGL Studio

In short: Red Dead Redemption 2 has no official Ukrainian in the interface, the subtitles or the voice-over. To play in Ukrainian you need a fan translation, and the most complete one we know of comes from GameGlobe Localization (GGL Studio).

What Steam says

The only voice track is English. Even with the translation installed, the characters will keep speaking English while you read Ukrainian text.

What the Ukrainian patch does

According to its entry in the kuli.com.ua localization catalog, it is a text-and-textures patch covering menus, hints, the journal and dialogue. It does not include voice-over. The catalog shows 100% readiness but also a "translation in progress" badge, so occasional rough spots are possible. The last update on record is from 28 September 2026.

For a sense of scale, ITC.ua reported in September 2025 that the team had reached 99%, translating 667 large files and fixing 3,811 errors from earlier versions. It also restored the translated lines for Cleet and Kieran in the main story.

How it is installed

This is how the catalog describes it; always check the authors' own instructions too:

1. Set the game's language to English in Steam.
2. Download the installer from ggloc.org (there is also a Nexus Mods version) and run it.
3. To remove it, use "Programs and Features" or run unins000.exe in the game folder.

Steam Deck needs an extra launch option, which the authors explain in their guide.

What it cannot do

Online play does not work with the translation. The catalog states this plainly, and the installer variant with a switch is only a partial workaround. Online is unavailable on our rentals anyway, so it costs you nothing in the story campaign.

If you were looking for a Russian patch

Official Russian text exists in the game (interface and subtitles, no voice-over). If you only wanted a "russifier" because nothing else was on offer, Ukrainian, though unofficial, is now an option too, and GGL Studio distributes it for free.
