Metro Exodus in Ukrainian: voice-over and subtitles added by the Ranger Update

Yes, Metro Exodus supports Ukrainian, voice-over included. Steam lists full support: interface, audio and subtitles. That is not surprising, since 4A Games is a studio of Ukrainian origin.

What Steam shows

So you can play Artyom's whole journey with Ukrainian voices and text.

When it arrived

At launch in February 2019 there was no Ukrainian. It came with the Ranger Update: according to The Sixth Axis, it was released in late March 2019 on all platforms and included full Ukrainian localization, covering both voice-over and subtitles.

So if you read somewhere that Exodus has no Ukrainian, that source predates this patch.

How to switch

The language is changed in the game's settings. One small trap that players mention in Steam discussions: change it from the main menu, before you load a mission. Finding the option from inside a running mission, or from Steam, can be harder. That is a user report, not official advice.

You don't need a fan patch

A fan translation made sense while the official one was missing. Now it is built in, and extra files add nothing except a risk of clashing with updates.

If you were searching for a Russian patch

The game officially includes Russian text and voice-over, so no patch is needed. And if you were looking for one because you wanted to follow the story in a language close to your own, Ukrainian here is complete and ready.

Renting Metro Exodus

You can take the game from us: a Steam account for a month, offline. Exodus is a single-player campaign with no required multiplayer, so a connection is only needed for the first launch. Details are on the how it works page.
