People Playground

People Playground is a physics sandbox by developer mestiez, published by Studio Minus. It is for people who enjoy throwing ragdolls around but want more detail, more freedom and a more satisfying result. There is no story: you get a large open space and a toy box of items.

Every object has its own physical properties: weight, sharpness, thermal and electrical conductivity, ferromagnetism, heat capacity and bullet resistance. The game simulates temperature, heat transfer, electricity and rigid-body dynamics, and the combination produces emergent behaviour nobody explicitly programmed. You can experiment on the ragdolls and build contraptions such as aircraft, walkers and automatic doors. Extra items and mods are available from the Steam Workshop.

HowLongToBeat lists about 4 hours for the main run and about 39 for a full run, but this is a sandbox with no story, so those figures are only a guide. In a month at roughly 60 hours you can do everything the game offers and still have time left to experiment. The game is single-player and works offline, although Workshop mods need an internet connection to download.
