Alan Wake

Alan Wake is a psychological action thriller from Remedy Entertainment, who also publish it. When the wife of best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity.

The game is presented in the style of a TV series, with its story split into episodes full of plot twists and cliffhangers. Combat is built on the Fight With Light mechanic: you first burn away the darkness shielding your enemies with a light source, and only then can you shoot them, which keeps the tension high. The PC version includes the special episodes The Signal and The Writer, higher resolution, fully configurable mouse and keyboard controls and gamepad support.

According to HowLongToBeat, the story takes about 11 hours and a full run about 28. In a month at roughly 60 hours you can finish it entirely, with room to spare. The game is single-player and works offline.
